2

Connect & Authenticate

Connect your device to your computer using the USB cable provided in the box. Trezor Suite will automatically detect your device.

Hologram Check

Before software setup, inspect the holographic seal on the USB port. It should be intact and difficult to remove.

  • Model One: Silver hologram over the USB port.
  • Model T / Safe 3: Magnetic tape over the USB-C port.
3

Install Latest Firmware

Your Trezor ships without firmware installed to ensure the latest security protocols are applied during setup.

  1. In Trezor Suite, click the green Install Firmware button.
  2. Do not disconnect the device during this process.
  3. Once complete, the device will reboot. Trezor Suite will perform an authenticity check to verify the hardware is genuine.
4

Create Wallet & Backup Seed

CRITICAL STEP

Your recovery seed is the only way to restore your funds if your device is lost, damaged, or stolen. Trezor Support cannot recover this for you.

1. Generate Seed

Select "Create New Wallet". Your device will generate a unique combination of words (12 or 24 words depending on model).

2. Write It Down

Use the provided recovery seed cards to write down the words in the exact order shown on the device screen.

3. Verify

Trezor will ask you to repeat specific words to ensure you have recorded them correctly.

Best Practices

  • Never take a photo of your seed.
  • Never type it into a computer.
  • Store in a fireproof safe.
  • Use a metal backup for longevity.
5

Set PIN & Activate Coins

Set a PIN: You will be prompted to set a PIN code. This protects your physical device from unauthorized access.

Activate Coins: Trezor supports over 1,000 assets. By default, Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) may be active. Go to the Settings tab in Trezor Suite to toggle visibility for other coins like XRP, Cardano, or Litecoin.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Device not detected by Trezor Suite
1. Use the original USB cable provided.
2. Try a different USB port on your computer.
3. Ensure you are not running other wallet apps (like Ledger Live or MetaMask) simultaneously.
4. Install the Trezor Bridge if using the web version on Firefox.
Firmware update failed
Disconnect the device and reconnect it while holding the buttons (Model One) or swiping the screen (Model T) to enter Bootloader mode. Then try the update again via Trezor Suite.
